To get highly skilled at controlling your class you must do several things. The primary thing is to become better at your own class and there is only one way of doing that - play it like you mean it. Log several dungeons until you know every ability that your class can do.
When you feel comfortable with your own class it is time to study! Boring but oh so necessary. Knowing your enemies abilities better than they do is key to winning. When faced with a Warrior that is familiar with all your tricks it gets down to who can counter the other player best.
In raids you do well to know your class to the fullest but also what and the reason why the other classes are doing what they are doing. Communicating with to your class leader and most of all asking your class leader questions is a easy technique of getting to know your class to the fullest.
Most important in raiding is team play and if you master that as a individual you will quickly advance in your guild ranks.
